Yacoob Chatharoo is a dedicated member in the field of Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs of Chemical products. With his passion for delivering exceptional results, Yacoob uses his scientific knowledge and management background to provide tailored solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
Currently serving as a Senior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Associate at Intertek Assuris, Chemicals Group, Yacoob plays a role in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) authoring and ensuring regulatory compliance. With a robust background in Chemistry, Yacoob applies his expertise to meticulously prepare SDS for a diverse range of products across Canada, the US, and Europe. His work adheres to key hazard communication regulations including OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), the Canadian Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR WHMIS 2015), the European Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, and the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). Yacoob is also familiar with DSL, NDSL and TSCA inventories.
Before joining Intertek, Yacoob accumulated over seven years of hands-on experience in the oil, gas, and chemical industry, working as a laboratory technician for petroleum testing (gasoline, Gasoil, Fuel Oil, Jet A-1, Avgas, Ethanol) and petroleum inspector (Vessel and Shore tank inspection).
During this time, Yacoob acquired a good knowledge of international standards such as ISO 17025, ISO 17020 and ASTM.Yacoob is proficient in using advanced software tools such as ExESS and SAP to ensure accuracy and compliance in SDS preparation. Yacoob is fluent in English and French both written and spoken.
