Kerry Finch, M.Sc., B.Sc. (HONS), Associate Director and Principal Scientific Consultant, Toxicology & Regulatory Affairs, Food & Nutrition
Ms. Finch is a Principal Scientific Consultant within the Food & Nutrition Group and has been a part of the team since 2005.
Ms. Finch is responsible for the development of strategies and work plans for food and biotech companies to support the preparation of technical and regulatory dossiers for submission to international regulatory agencies, including Novel Food applications, Food Additive submissions, Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) dossiers, Novelty determinations, and New Dietary Ingredient Notifications in the European Union (EU), United Kingdom (UK), United States (U.S.), and Canada. As part of her role, she critically reviews, evaluates, and interprets complex technical and toxicological data to develop robust safety evaluations for a range of ingredients and substances for use in food and dietary/food supplements. Her depth of experience with regulatory agencies, such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), European Commission, UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), U.S. FDA, and Health Canada has developed her exceptional ability to resolve complex regulatory and toxicological queries, which has been critical to numerous successful notifications or applications in the EU, U.S., and Canada. Ms. Finch leads the EU work within the Food & Nutrition Group on alternative proteins and has assisted numerous companies with regulatory guidance and strategic advice for dossier preparation.
Ms. Finch received her B.Sc. with Honours from the University of Western Ontario and a M.Sc. in Applied Toxicology with Distinction from the University of Surrey in Guildford, UK. Ms. Finch has published papers in peer-reviewed journals on topics relating to toxicology and is an active member of the Society of Toxicology.
