Shahrzad Tafazoli, Ph.D., Senior Director, Safety & Regulatory Affairs, Food & Nutrition Group
Dr. Shahrzad Tafazoli is a Senior Director heading the Safety & Regulatory Affairs team within the Food & Nutrition Group. Dr. Tafazoli has applied her broad background in toxicology and chemistry, and her strong knowledge of food safety and regulations in successfully managing the introduction of a broad range of food products, including additives, enzymes, flavourings, plant-based protein products, and foods derived from biotechnology and GM microbial sources in various global markets. By offering strategic advice in the early stages of the R&D process, Dr. Tafazoli has been assisting various start-up and multi-national companies to better navigate the existing regulatory framework in order to gain timely access to global markets.
Dr. Tafazoli has received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and her master’s degrees in molecular Toxicology and Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Tafazoli has published several peer-reviewed journal articles related to the safety of food ingredients, food enzymes, food additives, and products of precision fermentation.
