ASTM F510: Standard Test Method for Resistance to Abrasion of Resilient Floor Coverings Using an Abrader with a Grit Feed Method
Standard: ASTM F510 – Standard Test Method for Resistance to Abrasion of Resilient Floor Coverings Using an Abrader with a Grit Feed Method
Certification Required: N/A
Scope: Per ASTM F510: "This test method describes a laboratory procedure for determining the abrasion resistance of resilient flooring using an abrader with a grit feeder."
Applicable Products: Resilient flooring
Test Procedure: The specific gravity of each specimen is determined before testing. The feed rate of the test machine is set to 35 g per 100 revolutions. An initial weight is recorded for each specimen and the first specimen is loaded onto the testing machine. The machine is then run for the prescribed number of cycles while the grit feeder deposits grit in the path of the abrading wheels. At the conclusion of the test the specimen is cleaned with compressed air and reweighed. The volume loss is then calculated.
End Result: This test results in the resistance to abrasion for the number of revolutions.
