Exporting to Uganda? Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) to Standards Programme to be reinstated from 1st June 2013.
As you may be aware in December 2012 the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) suspended the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) to Standards Programme.
Intertek has received official notification from UNBS that this programme will now recommence from 1st June 2013.
The PVoC is in place to assure Ugandan consumers of the quality and safety of imported goods. The PVoC programme covers the verification of all "Regulated Products" to comply with the Uganda/ other approved standards on the basis of which a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is issued.
Intertek has been awarded a contract by the UNBS to issue this certificate.
The CoC is needed to ensure customs clearance of shipments in Uganda. Obtaining the CoC also confirms that the products comply with the relevant Ugandan technical regulations and/or national, regional or international standards. Failure to present this certificate can result in severe delays in Customs clearance, penalties or even shipments being returned to the country of export.
Intertek has experience in providing solutions to businesses exporting a wide range of products to Uganda having been the sole provider of Uganda’s Pre-Shipment Inspection programme from 1998 until 2002 and has also been supporting UNBS by issuing requested Certificates of Conformity for exports to Uganda since the compulsory programme was suspended so are experts on the Ugandan market.
