Results of China Market Textile and Footwear Spot Checks in September 2017

Bedding Articles
In September, the Guangxi QTS, Shandong QTS and Shanghai QTS launched the special product quality supervision for bedding articles.
This spot check was conducted according to GB/T 2910-2009 "Textiles - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 1: General Principles of Testing," GB/T 3920-2008 "Textiles - Tests for Colorfastness - Colorfastness for Rubbing" and GB/T 7573-2009 "Textiles - Determination of pH of Aqueous Extract."
As a result, the Shandong QTS checked 30 batches product and found no failures; and the Shanghai QTS checked 40 batches of towels and found out 4 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 10%.
Primary failed items: fiber material, fiber content, colorfastness to water and colorfastness to light.
Children’s Wear
In September, the Shandong QTS launched special product quality supervision and risk inspection for children’s wear.
This spot check was conducted according GB 5296.4-2012 "Instruction for use of products of consumer interest," GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products" and GB 31701-2015 "Safety Technical Code for Infants and Children Textile Products.”
As a result, Shandong QTS checked 40 batches products and found out 5 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate at 12.5%.
Primary failed items: pH value, safety requirements of cords and drawstrings, fiber content and labeling.
Footwear
In September, the Beijing AIC and Shanghai QTS launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for footwear products.
This spot check was conducted according “Product Quality Law,” QB/T 1002-2005 "Leather Shoes," GB 20400-2006 "Leather and Fur - Limit of Harmful Matter," GB/T 22756-2017 "Leather Sandals" and GB 28011-2011 "Shank."
As a result, the Beijing AIC found out 8 batches failed; and the Shanghai QTS checked 50 batches of leather sandals and found out 8 batches failed.
Primary failed items: peeling strength, tensile strength, flexing, colorfastness, shank stiffness and shank hardness.
Textiles & Apparel
In September, the Shanxi QTS, Shanghai QTS, Shandong QTS, Hubei QTS, Guangdong QTS, Shenzhen MSA, Beijing AIC, Shanxi Datong AIC launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for textiles and apparel.
The spot checks were conducted according to GB 18401 "National general safety technical code for textile products" and GB/T 5296.4-2012 "Instruction for use of products of consumer interest.
As a result, the Shanxi QTS checked 162 batches consumer products and found a 2.9% failure rate for casual wear, 10% failure rate for children's wear, 8.1% failure for women's tops, 12% failure rate for men's trousers, 20% failure rate for women's trousers and 8% failure rate for knitted underwear. The Shanghai QTS checked 72 batches of UV protection garments and found out 43 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 58.1%; 50 batches of wash and wear shirts and found 1 batch failed, resulting in a failure rate of 2%; 50 batches silk garments and found 4 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 8%. The Shandong QTS checked 300 batches of women’s undergarments and found 39 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 13%. The Shenzhen MSA checked 170 batches products and found 9 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 5.3%. The Beijing AIC inspection found 32 batches failed and the Shanxi Datong AIC checked 75 batches and found 19 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 25.3%.
Primary failed items: formaldehyde, fiber content, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to light, heat preservation and seam slippage.
Bags
In September, the Jiangsu QTS launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for bag products.
As a result, the Jiangsu QTS checked 43 batches handbags and found 20 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 46.5%; and checked 27 batches of school bags and found 2 batches failed, resulting in a failure rate of 7.4%.
Primary failed items: seam strength and shock impact property.
