EU – Commission Tighten the Limit Value of Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) under POPs Regulation

On 27 Sep 2024, the European Commission (EU) published Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/2555 amending Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 (POPs Regulation). The regulation reduces the limit value for Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) to 75mg/kg in substances, mixtures, articles or as constituents of the flame-retarded articles.
For the use of recycled polystyrene in the production of EPS and XPS insulation material for use in buildings or civil engineering works, the limit of this material is 100 mg/kg (0,01 % by weight).
This regulation shall enter into force on 17 Oct 2024.
