Utah Removes Online Labeling Requirements from Rule R70-101 Effective April 9, 2025

Effective April 9, 2025, the Utah rule R70-101 Bedding, Upholstered Furniture and Quilted Clothing Inspection act has been updated to remove the requirement for online product disclosures, specifically digital labels on web pages for bedding, upholstered furniture, and quilted clothing sold online.

For the previous Intertek insight regarding Utah’s Change in Proposed Rule for Online Requirements (CPR), please refer to the following link. Online requirements were removed from the R70-101 following the public comment period until March 31, 2025, and review of Utah’s CPR.

Key Changes:

  • Online Sales: Online retailers are no longer required to display digital law labels or textile labels on their websites, effective April 9, 2025.
  • Licensing and Registration: Utah will continue to issue licenses and require registration for businesses involved in manufacturing, wholesaling, and selling bedding, upholstered furniture, and quilted clothing.
  • Labeling Requirements: Physical labeling requirements remain unchanged, and businesses must still provide accurate information about filling materials, sterilization, and other relevant details.
