U.S. CPSC revised the Safety Standard Stationary Activity Centers
On March 27, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved a Direct Final Rule to revise the Safety Standard Stationary Activity Centers under 16 CFR 1238 and published in the Federal Register.
The incorporated standard is revised to ASTM F2012-24, Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Stationary Activity Centers. Each stationary activity center sold in the USA shall comply with this standard.
ASTM F2012-24 includes general requirements, performance requirements, test methods and labelling requirements. The new 2024 includes the following key revisions:
- Method for Assessing Permanency of Warning Labels - for labels attached at a seam, the pull force must be applied in the direction most likely to cause failure, rather than in any direction, and the pull force must be applied gradually within a period of five seconds and then maintained for an additional 10 seconds.
- Additional Warnings- Four additional examples of warning labels have been included.
The updates will be effective on July 5, 2025.
