One of our client partners approached our team with a straightforward goal, raise quality while reducing costs. This global consumer goods brand wanted to plan and implement a strategy to do in 15 of their factories across Asia which they had targeted for improvement.
Intertek’s solution
As part of our bespoke approach, we recommended a custom factory assessment program designed to align with both the client’s brand expectations and relevant regulatory standards. To enhance on-the-ground visibility and responsiveness, we also advised comprehensive inspector training combined with the deployment of smart tools for early detection of quality or compliance issues. This initiative enables quicker data capture and issue flagging, significantly reducing the time between identification and resolution. Lastly, we introduced a protocol of regular performance monitoring and unannounced site visits to enforce accountability in the targeted factories.
The results
By implementing these measures, all 15 of the client’s targeted factories were able to achieve self-inspection status in 6-9 months. Additionally, our client partner saw defect rates reduce significantly and saved more than $100,000 annually per targeted factory.
