The Sustainable Organisation understands the importance of incorporating sustainability principles with a robust environmental management system.
The Intertek Sustainability – Environment Standard brings these complimentary requirements together in a way that challenges the Organisation to evaluate their environmental aspects and impacts, including those of supply chain partners, through the sustainability lens. The standard is divided into five main components; Climate Change, Resources, Biodiversity, Waste Management and Regulatory.
Evaluates how the organisation has assessed and understand the risks to the environment caused by their operations and how those risks are being mitigated.
Evaluates how well the Organisation understands the impact its operations have on natural resources, and the steps being taken to mitigate and innovate in response to impacts.
Evaluates the Organisation’s policies and actions related to environmental stewardship.
Evaluates how the Organisation reviews and manages the reduction of waste and wastewater generation.
Evaluates how the Organisation ensures compliance with applicable environmental regulations, and transparent reporting and disclosure to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
